Tigers and Pirates? Oh, My! See the Memphis Tigers Take on the East Carolina Pirates
The Memphis Tigers will face the East Carolina Pirates on this Saturday, February 22nd!
The Memphis Tigers represents the University of Memphis in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The Tigers have competed in the American Athletic Conference since 2013. As of 2011, the Tigers had the 29th highest winning percentage in NCAA history. Lacking an on-campus arena they play home games at the Memphis Grizzlies arena the FedExForum. ESPN Stats and Information Department ranked Memphis as the 19th most successful basketball program from 1962 to 2012 in their annual 50 in 50 lists.
On the other side of the court, the East Carolina Pirates represent East Carolina University. As a member of Conference USA, ECU made three consecutive appearances in the CIT postseason tournament, claiming the tournament championship in 2013 as Akeem Richmond's buzzer-beater gave the Pirates a championship game win over Weber State. Interestingly, East Carolina has had four players to reach the NBA level.
The Memphis Tigers will play against the East Carolina Pirates at Cleveland Cavaliers at FedExForum. The 2019-20 college basketball season is the team’s 17th season in FedExForum, and the Tigers have made the arena one of the nation’s best homecourt advantages. In its first 10 seasons, Memphis posted a 178-21 record that included a 47-game homecourt win streak at FedExForum from 2006-08.
Tickets prices will vary depending on seating and are available at fedexforum.com. For more information on the University of Memphis Tigers and additional athletics programs, please visit www.gotigersgo.com.
